A flavorful fish curry made with marinated cod, a mix of spices, and a creamy yogurt-based sauce. Fry the fish, prepare the curry with aromatic spices and serve with rice or chapati.
Wash the cod and pat dry. Ensure there is no water on the fish.
Mix cumin and coriander seeds (roasted and ground), salt, red chili powder, and a squeeze of lemon to marinate the fish for 20-30 minutes.
Fry the marinated fish in a little oil until brown on both sides.
In a pot, add a little oil and fry the diced onion until lightly golden.
Add all spices and curry patta to the onions; wait for them to splutter.
Add ginger and garlic paste along with the tomato paste and yogurt; add splashes of water as needed.
Cook until the oil begins to seep through the masala.
Add about 3/4 cup of warm water and the green chilies; include some cilantro.
Carefully add the fried fish, sprinkle with garam masala and kasuri methi, and add a squeeze of lemon.
Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
Serve with sliced ginger and cilantro alongside white rice or hot chapati.
